Vinka Design has been creating exquisite bridal gowns and couture pieces for over 50 years. Vinka Lucas, the founder, opened up the world of luxury dressing for New Zealanders with the Maree de Maru salon in the 60s and established the first Bridal magazine with the “Bridal Annual”, a premier Bridal magazine which she ran for fifteen years making bridal glamour accessible nationwide. Known as the "Queen of the fashion world of haute couture, bridal and evening wear", committed to excellence and personalised, professional service. Vinka Lucas included included distinguished clientele from the worlds of opera and stage, royalty and diplomatic circles, beauty pageants and special charity events. 



Over recent years Vinka Design has become a family business and today Vinka Design is led by Vinka’s Lucas’ daughter Anita. A talented designer in her own right and a former model, Anita understands how to bring out your best features and she now carries forward the exceptional design creativity and focus on customer service which Vinka Design is famous for. 

Anita reflects: "One of my earliest memories growing up, was playing with fabric in the work room. I was encouraged to make dresses for my dolls and myself with the off-cuts of fabric, rich with texture and bright colours, I seemed to entertain myself for hours.

having worked for and alongside such an amazing woman/mother/fashion designer, here in New Zealand, the Middle East, Japan and the U.S.A, the world of fashion is something I live and breathe."



All Vinka custom couture gowns are still hand made by a talented team that is dedicated to exceptional service and exquisite finishing.
